Brooks Price Increases Are Here
New Products Hinted At
If you have been shopping the Brooks pages you will have noticed that the price increases that we have been warning you about have arrived. The steel-rail saddles have gone up around $15-$20, some less, some more. The ti saddles have taken a bigger jump with increases of $100+ on all. Brooks cites the exchange rate, cost of titanium, factory capacity, etc, etc.
The new price list included some new items as well. Not sure when these will arrive. Maybe near the end of the year. Prices will be in the "if you have to ask. . . ." neighborhood.

We Dare You
A friend, who is studying arcitecture at Tulane, noticed this magazine cover the other day and sent us a scan.
He said the article is about a designer that uses familiar items in clever ways, or something like that. Not about the versatility and magnificence of the Team Pro.
Perhaps you can use this high-toned Italian design magazine to sell the idea of Brooks bar stools at your house?
I bet we could do them cheaper than the Italian designer!

followup:
Hi Diane.
Have done business with you in the past, and look at your site regularly. Just thought I would fill you in on the bicycle-seat barstool: it was designed in 1957 by famous designer Achille Castiglioni and his brother Pier Giacomo, so is hardly new, but has been in production again since 1983. Achille is famous for lamps among other things. Check out: http://www.flos.net/home1.jsp
All the best,

Brooks
Saddles:
for the long ride

Brooks bicycle
saddles have a reputation for comfort and beauty that has
been earned in over a hundred years of continuous production.
The Brooks
firm, located in Birmingham, England, employs around 20 people
in the manufacture of fine, handcrafted bicycle saddles. There
are saddles for racing , saddles for cruising, and saddles for
all types of riding in between.
In year 2000, Brooks was cast adrift when parent Sturmey Archer collapsed under the weight of financial chicanery. A management buyout put things right and got the wheels turning again at Brooks. In 2003 the Italian saddle giant Selle Royal bought the venerable Brooks firm and has embarked on a campaign of breathing new life into the revered brand while respecting the traditions that have made Brooks what it is.
Here at Wallingford Bicycle Parts we try to carry
every Brooks model that that company offers.
Take a look
at our three pages of Brooks saddles. The page titled "UNSPRUNG SADDLES" has
all of the narrower unsprung models that would be appropriate for
racing and touring bikes. The "SINGLE
RAIL SPRUNG SADDLES" page lists all of the Brooks models
that have one saddle rail on each side. These single rail saddles
are designed to mount directly to a modern, micro -adjust seatpost
of the type that 99% of us have on our bikes. The "DOUBLE
AND TRIPLE RAIL SPRUNG SADDLES" are heavy duty models
that either can be adapted to modern
seatposts or require the use of an old-fashioned plain top seatposts.
Our most popular Brooks model is the B.17.
This is followed by the Swift,
the Champion
Flyer, and the
Team
Pro. The B.17 is the best all around Brooks model. The Swift
and Team Pro are excellent saddles for a rider with aggressive
tendancies. The Champion Flyer is a sprung B.17 and, like it's
non-sprung sibling, an excellent all around saddle. Check out a picture of
all the saddles together.
Remember - the saddles have different personalities
for different types of riding. It is not necessarily true that
a more expensive Brooks is a better Brooks for you.
So take a look at our selection of Brooks saddles
and give us a call or e-mail if you have any questions (contact
info is on each saddle page).
