The B135
is an absolute novelty. Since decades Brooks had stopped the production
of double sprung saddles. The B135 covers this lack in the Brooks range, featuring
not only firm double springs at the back, but also a frontal loop spring for maximum
suspension. The saddle is available in the 2 Brooks traditional colours: black
and honey.
This saddle has the same leather top as the B.66, B.67, B72, and the B.73. It's two-wire frame requires a straight-top seatpost or a Seat Sandwich to adapt it to a modern seatpost that has the clamp incorporated.
“Make Life Worth Cycling”
What Correspondants Have Said About The B.135
(Comments, reviews, and essays are welcome and appreciated - especially by other cyclists that are considering one of these saddles.)
"I have the B.73 on an old american steel frame road bike, with Nitto North Road handlebars very high up (12 inch tall WALD stem). I find that that for the upright position, the B.73 is VERY COMFORTABLE. I've compared it to the Champion Flyer S, which my girlfriend has on her Mountain bike (she likes her setup very much!.) In my experience, the addition of the Third spring on the B.73 results in way more additional travel, going straight up-and-down, when I hit huge potholes, etc. I live in the inner city of DC where the roads can be terrible (there are cobblestones with old trolley tracks, or huge potholes & bumps. This saddle really is a smooth-riding dream. However, compared to the B.135, I find that the B.73 can bounce me up above my seat after absorbing a big bump, which is really fun, of course, and it works very well for a fully-upright seating position. I don't think I would use this for any agressive lean-forward riding though. The B.135 on the other hand, had no equal, I have aquired this for my urban cruiser, and it really does take anything you throw at it. Actually, I think this saddle should be marketed more heavily at hard-tail mountain bikes, because it is so sturdy, takes the bumps out, and has a very controlled manner. This seat does not bump me out of my spot. I've come to realize that the B.135 has made me a lot more confident in urban city traffic because it allows me to stay fully in-control of my bike while pedaling through traffic on bumpy urban city roads. It makes my bike feel more like a serious vehicle for getting from point a to point b with confidence on the road. I think that anyone who condiders their bike as a way to get around, an not just as a toy - they really should strongly consider the B.135. It is also an excellent partner to a suspension fork on any hardtail bike. The B.135 is definitely the best decision I ever made on bike equipment."
