The oils in leather tend to dry out over time; Proofide is a leather treatment that replentishes these oils. Brooks recommends using a small amount of Proofide on a regualr basis. Four times a year is a good schedule. Rub the proofide into the leather with your fingers and let it sit overnight. In the morning polish off the dry residue and you will be ready to go.

The Spanner is used to tension the saddle in compensation for leather stretch. It is made to fit on the special tension nut under nose of the saddle.
