the Carradice SQR* bags

*Seatpost Quick Release

The SQR bags from Carradice have a built-in frame that easily mounts to a block positioned on the seatpost. There is a quick release on the block and the bag is easily removed from the bike in seconds.

These are excellent bags for folding bikes.

The SQR range consists of three bags (as shown on the left, top to bottom)and an accesory bag mount to be used with standard saddlebags (on its own page);

What Correspondants Have Said About The SQR Bags

(Comments, reviews, and essays are welcome and appreciated - especially by other cyclists that are considering one of these bags.)

"I originally purchased this bag (SQR Tour) for my Schwinn since it lacked rack eyelet's. However I knew from the day I took it out of the box, this bag was destined for my Bike-Friday travel bicycle. I have had for some time an issue with trying to fit a suitable bag on this bike. A rear rack was difficult and time consuming to install, remove, pack, and unpack over and over again. I finally gave in and decided to see how it would work, and work it did. I could leave the SQR block on my seat post and pack it up. The bag collapses just fine in spite of the stiffener and fits into the bike's suitcase very well. It only takes seconds now to unpack and install. I can pop the bag off in a hurry and run into a store if needed. That was something of a hassle with a rack trunk bag. The quality is also much better than any rack bag I have ever owned. This bag is exactly what I was looking for and now remains on my bike Friday… permanently."

I just wanted to let you know how well the Carradice SQR Slim Bag worked for me on my recent trip through Britteny and Normandy.  My wife and I were on a 9 day trip with Backroads and brought our own bikes.  We have road bikes which do not lend well to racks and panniers.
I was able to get the following into the Slim Bag:
1 pair of Teva Sandles (so I did not have to walk around in my cleats)
1 pair of Reebock Sneakers (my wife did not like Tevas)
2 fold up Performance Rain Jackets
2 Kryptonite cable locks
1 spare tire
1 spare tube
CO2 inflator
The bag mounted well and did not affect my riding at all.
My only comment is that Carradice should incorporate rings on the side for a shoulder strap and include a shoulder strap.

"Just got back from a week in Calgary riding around with my SQR Trax bag. Overall, I am extremely pleased -- the bag is great! I was surprised how much stuff I could jam into it, and the mesh pockets on the sides hold a fair amount of overflow. I brought a small backpack with me, thinking I might still need that on days when I had a lot of stuff to carry, but I didn't need it at all."
"I did discover that Carradice doesn't use Locktite on the four SS bolts that attach the SQR bracket to the bag (the nuts are accessible from inside the bag). One day when I got home, I found that two of the nuts had loosened completely and fallen off (they were rolling around the bottom of the bag), and the other two were halfway undone. I have since Locktited them in place."
"The QR isn't the easiest to use, as there isn't the same "handle" extension as on the original SQR bracket. However, after a few tries I have figured out how to attach or detach it in about 10 seconds or so."
"I tried a shoulder strap (attached to the bottom of the metal SQR frame and one of the backpack attachment points), and it works well enough that I won't bother with the backpack accessory. (shoulder strap is not included)"
"So, in conclusion, the Trax bag has met and exceeded my expectations. I am glad I bought it, and will be using it a lot. Now the only problem I have
is that my wife has begun suggesting that I get her one, too!"

"The bag is doing great. It is just about the perfect size for a bicycle commuter. Some days I add a pannier if I have a lot to carry but most of the time the Slim is just right. It is about the capacity of a small daypack and certainly easier than carrying something on my back. I love the way I can quickly move it from my regular commuter bike to my road bike when I feel sporty."

"I just wanted to let you both know how happy I am with this bag, it is perfect on my Bikefriday and great on my other bike as well.
What I am most impressed with is the service, I emailed you at 3:30 PM central time and had the bag on my door step the next day !!
Great products, great service, great people !!!"
